MALDIBANK project Kicks-Off

Under the coordination of MIRRI-ERIC, MALDIBANK is a new 4-year project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme. Build on a deep understanding and by leveraging the power of microbes, whose impact ranges from Ecosystems dynamics to Human health, MALDIBANK unites 24 partners in a search for a more precise identification of microorganisms, while providing innovative solutions for the understanding in how the microbial diversity can be used for global problems-solving.

MALDIBANK’s main goal is to conceptualise a global, cloud-based, open MALDI spectra databank for this revolutionary research in order to promote identification of microorganisms. The project will ease processing, characterisation, epidemiological surveillance, among other vital research activities. Through the promotion of further collaborations, MALDIBANK will amplify collective knowledge by providing researchers with an integrated network of infrastructures.

The project’s consortium is composed by 24 partners, with valuable experience in a cross-border collaborative and multidisciplinary approach in microbial studies: MIRRI-ERIC (Project Coordinator, PT), Instruct-ERIC (UK), EMBRC-ERIC (FR), ELIXIR (DE), UVEG-CECT (ES), ULPGC-BEA (ES), Sciensano (BE), INRAE (FR), IP (FR), UL-MSCL (LV), UMinho-MUM (PT), CEITEC (CZ), NHRF (EL), NHRF (CZ), CIIMAR (PT), BioData.pt (PT), INES-ID (PT), SU (FR), UNITO (IT), WI-KNAW (NL), BioAware (BE), CloverBioSoft (ES), SPI (PT), SIB (CH).
