Dear All
I have been asked to com wih an estimate of how much beamtime in a synchotron that will be needed to do X-ray crystallography of 150 coli proteins and up to several 1000 human membrane proteins. As I do not know much about whats going on at a synchotron facility, I hope that one of you can answer. An yes,I amawre that making th crystals is the laborintensive part of this.

Hi Bjorn,
maybe our EMBL colleagues in Hamburg can help. There is some info on the page here: http://www.embl-hamburg.de/services/access_infrastructures/mx/P13/index.html
You can contact the beamline scientists on one the two beamlines (P13 or P14) for more information. Nowadays they have so much automation that it's difficult to say how much beamtime you would need for so many proteins.
Btw, I'm sure you wanted to say that making the protein is the labour intensive part of the work. Crystals grow on their own in the right condition (pipeted by robots). :-)
Hi Bjorn,
sorry i only saw this now. Can I still help you with this? Let me know!

I think you can ask people for provide crystallography to help you. Like Creative BioMart. Here's the link: http://www.creativebiomart.net/Product/Crystallography_23.htm. Hope it can help you!
